You are asking yourself, how can a Geek love another Geek? It seem though maybe its like a robot trying to cry. But either way sooner or later, something will happen, just like when Humans will never be able to reach to the moon, it did happen! Just Like I was saying that Geeks loves other Geeks. How and Why? Well you for beginners, Geeks are not just Geeks, there is a sub-genre of Geeks – to name a few – Band Geeks, Pyro Geeks, Car Geeks, Food Geeks, Math Geeks, etc… but the types of Geeks I am trying to reach is Net Geeks or Computer Software Geeks. and all in between….and of course you don’t need to be a geek for my blog….So in my title “Geek Love: Using Open Source Software”. Lets sorts things out:

What is Love?

Taken from Urban Dictionary ”

Love can make you do anything and sacrifice for what will be better in the end. Love is intense, and passionate. Everything seems brighter, happier and more wonderful when you’re in love. If you find it, don’t let it go. One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life:

That word is love. ”

What is a Geek?

Taken from Urban Dictionary ”

The term “geek” originally referred to the carnival performers whose act consisted of biting the heads off chickens and eating glass. Over time it came to be applied to anyone who got paid to do work considered odd or bizarre by mainstream society. The term now enjoys a special status within the technical community, particularly among particularly knowledgable computer programmers. To identify oneself as a “geek” indicates a recognition that most people still consider programming computers to be a bizarre act, along with a certain fierce satisfaction in being very good at their inglorious profession.

That most software geeks now easily earn twice as much as the average laborer just sweetens their defiant embrace of the term.

Note: Unlike the word “nerd,” which is always pejorative, “geek” often carries a positive connotation when used by one of the group. The use of the term by outsiders is considered insulting.

“If you really need the right answer, check with Bob; he’s our resident alpha geek.”

What is open Source?

Taken from Urban Dictionary ”

1. A group of software whose source code is available to the general public for the purpose of improvement, modification, etc.
2. Any software released under the GPL, LGPL, or other open source licenses.
3. The stuff that makes Bill Gates’ life sad.

Linux, Apache, MySQL, and plenty else is open source – and it’s all good stuff.”

Thought Process

So, Love? Geek? and Open Source? These people that create this type of software is truely in love with their programming, they share it and they make it because they love you! So next time you find a program that “open Source” Find their website and drop some cents in there paypal, why? cause your a geek too! and need to return the favor!
