FileMaker 9 Defeats
June 10, 2008
So I am a Database geek; tables, data, and relationships. I recently finished a sub project for my boss, adding a book inventory within the same database. It is amazing what you can do with data. I am used to writing code from the ground up and then mending out the bumps. FileMaker 9 is a database alternate to Microsoft Access, which I am MOS certified in, FileMaker 9 is made up differently but works the same jiffs. I am not a FileMaker Guru but I am a Geek that can figure out many things out. This Project was just off an idea, people at my job whine about not having certain data for grant writing, co-workers running and hunting for the hard copies. You can see the stress polluting the airways. So I have designed and programmed a registration, Daily Sign-In log, and a book inventory system. The first phase was unworking for a user, then added color and nice-to-see interface, used many scripts and layouts to automate some things, then scripted all the loose ends so user can not mess up…..so now we have a user-friendly database with a nice Interface. so the next time someone need a report……bingo.. I got you an automated report. it took me less than 5 minutes to send the report to upper-management. Presto…. you got a happy employee and an employer. Guys have a great day
