Pride Will Kill You

February 15, 2009

One of my beloved brothers named Keven just got some bad news. Ouch!!!

Cellulitis is a diffuse infection of connective tissue with severe inflammation of dermal and subcutaneous layers of the skin. Cellulitis can be caused by normal skin flora or by exogenous bacteria, and often occurs where the skin has previously been broken: cracks in the skin, cuts, blistersburns, insect bites, surgical wounds, or sites of intravenous catheter insertion. Skin on the face or lower legs is most commonly affected by this infection, though cellulitis can occur on any part of the body. The mainstay of therapy remains treatment with appropriate antibiotics.

Erysipelas is the term used for a more superficial infection of the dermis and upper subcutaneous layer that presents clinically with a well defined edge. Erysipelas and cellulitis often coexist, so it is often difficult to make a distinction between the two.

Cellulitis is unrelated to cellulite, a cosmetic condition featuring dimpling of the skin.

note: this is not Keven

This is what happens if you don’t take responabity for your health.  I am glad he did go to ER after all!

Got A Blog, Why do you blog?

February 14, 2009

I always directed myself as “me”. What is a blog?

I took this from blogger.com

What’s a blog?
A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world.

Your blog is whatever you want it to be. There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules.

In simple terms, a blog is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what’s new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you. Or not.

Since Blogger was launched in 1999, blogs have reshaped the web, impacted politics, shaken up journalism, and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect with others.

And we’re pretty sure the whole deal is just getting started

So as I think about it this. This is ME…in digital form. So why do I want to share with who I am? Because You deserve to know who I am. I might be to bold to say this but I will give it a try. I am a good guy to know. I will fix your computer. Teach you how to cook. Jam out with some music. I will even show you how to create a blog design. I will try all I can to be a real person. Those you know me in real life (most of them) will find me interesting, artistic, childish, geeky, smart, funny, moody, friendly, Super open, and shy. When you see me in public. I am gentle and shy. When I am in my comfy zone I can become very “overpowering”, bright, digging for “looks and thanks”. and many things. Mostly I am your Best Friend that can listen and also give you great advice.

So Why do I blog? I blog beacuse I can and I want to. Why do you want to? BEcause I want to share my part. So My question for you is why do YOU Read or Write in a Blog?

I am Waiting!!!!!!

See it Both Ways

I am a geek…agreed? Great. No you are some person that like computers. Sure—but I like geek better.

How many times will you run into logical issues caused by humans? if you created a program to trace an area with the shortest path and you tell the computer to send “info” Here to There. What if you had to answers? how does that program know what path to take…it just does. Two good choices to get to same place

So If you can imagine a perfect Cirle with two end-points that were perfectly the same distances between. You told the computer to get to Point A to Point B. What Direction will it take? do you wander why the computer choose that direction? Did it make a choice with out human intervention? I alway think about that.

Try taking that same concept with anything. Faith, Friend, Programming, and much more. It quite interesting that everthing we know is relational. like a database or social networking. Science and religion. Food and Drugs. TV’s and Ipods.

Are we right or are  we wrong?

How many time will you hear someone say “Oh I do that later”. My theory is people procrastinate because they are scared to doing their task well. I argue with myself. “You need to clean this up”. I am like “The heck with it right now”. “I’ll do it later”. I ponder about it alot. is it because we just don’t want to do it? Maybe Lazy? I think we just think its something we don’t want to do. But in deep, I think we fear of self rejection. “That bed sheet is not neat enough” “Dishes can’t have any stains on them”. BUT the moment we realize that we can excel in something those Task can become easy and worry free. The reason it makes sense to me is because my past experience in college. The Fear of not achieving little by little? Why bother so I revert to.. “I’ll do that asignment later” I know i can do that math assignment but maybe I won’t get that “showing your work” thing. So Finding something that works. Now, I know that I can excel in school so I don’t wait to last moment to do something. Same thing with anything…. learn your boundaries….but do you know them? I love BillGX Blog it has inspired me write this post. Under Comments in one of posts. it says:

People are often afraid to try something new because they are afraid to fail. This week I saw a fascinating video by Randy Nelson who works at Pixar and he talks a bit about failure when he says this:

“The core skill of innovators is error recovery, not error avoidance.”

How often as educators do we train our students not to make mistakes? Human beings learn best by making mistakes and figuring out ways of doing it better next time. Somehow we often lose sight of this truth.

So Learn to not fear of failing can open a door to getting thing done… and stress free. I am glad I am back in trying the bloging thing… My Procrastination is my blog. I shall not fear to fail. failing is good, unless its the motor in your boat!

I was think to myself. TMI. To Much Info. I latey have been away from this blog. and I have at least removed the cobbwebs from this place. Yes I know it needs some dusting but will do dandy. I seem to start something and then when I decide to start something else.. it gets buried some wheres server. and got to remeber that good password that ya used to know. Facebook is been my addiction and reading for a steady pace now. Myspace is worthless to me now. its like someone using Windows forever then realize there is other OS out there. Linux and Mac and others. I miss the days of not knowing about the internet. I can learn anything with the internet…. well almost anything. Make a plan

1. I will spend 1/2 hour in the morning reading my email
2. I will chat with people on my lunch hour
3. I will only read from my RSS feed not broswing the net.
4. I will Take breaks from the Internet
……… and on and on!

I tend to let my friends know that I am on a “Internet vacation”. Lets face it. It takes energy and time to read and follow people on the internet. Just relax and enjoy the weather/

At 22 and Too old to think that I am too old to go to school…. nah…just playing. Yep thats right I am going to school this August 25 2008. Aleast its only part-time 8 credits for my certification classes for Cisco CCNA. You gotta Love it! So I hope all is well. and I am ready for this time.

FileMaker 9 Defeats

June 10, 2008

So I am a Database geek; tables, data, and relationships. I recently finished a sub project for my boss, adding a book inventory within the same database. It is amazing what you can do with data. I am used to writing code from the ground up and then mending out the bumps. FileMaker 9 is a database alternate to Microsoft Access, which I am MOS certified in, FileMaker 9 is made up differently but works the same jiffs. I am not a FileMaker Guru but I am a Geek that can figure out many things out. This Project was just off an idea, people at my job whine about not having certain data for grant writing, co-workers running and hunting for the hard copies. You can see the stress polluting the airways. So I have designed and programmed a registration, Daily Sign-In log, and a book inventory system. The first phase was unworking for a user, then added color and nice-to-see interface, used many scripts and layouts to automate some things, then scripted all the loose ends so user can not mess up…..so now we have a user-friendly database with a nice Interface. so the next time someone need a report……bingo.. I got you an automated report. it took me less than 5 minutes to send the report to upper-management. Presto…. you got a happy employee and an employer. Guys have a great  day

Am I just a Geek or am I more than I think I am? Today in my Culture, it is like “What you see is what you get”. But I feel that we has humans are more than just “What you see” and Sometimes “You get more then the eyes meet”. Take this for example, Have you have ever climbed a hill by foot or car? You thought to yourself, Wow, thats awesome scenery, before you hit to the top of the hill. You look up and Bam! You see a valley of prettiness. You get more than you bargain, so back about me. I sometimes get to a point where I feel that I have awesome Skills, Being a geek, and being an artist of all sorts. I build websites, design Techy Documents, Teach Computer Skills, I make Resumes, I Play Music and lots more. BUT sometimes I don’t use the best of my skills, I slide a little bit and coast. But I know that I can go at it Full Speed. and Possible that I am more than I think I am? I  Know I can do More!

You are asking yourself, how can a Geek love another Geek? It seem though maybe its like a robot trying to cry. But either way sooner or later, something will happen, just like when Humans will never be able to reach to the moon, it did happen! Just Like I was saying that Geeks loves other Geeks. How and Why? Well you for beginners, Geeks are not just Geeks, there is a sub-genre of Geeks - to name a few - Band Geeks, Pyro Geeks, Car Geeks, Food Geeks, Math Geeks, etc… but the types of Geeks I am trying to reach is Net Geeks or Computer Software Geeks. and all in between….and of course you don’t need to be a geek for my blog….So in my title “Geek Love: Using Open Source Software”. Lets sorts things out:

What is Love?

Taken from Urban Dictionary ”

Love can make you do anything and sacrifice for what will be better in the end. Love is intense, and passionate. Everything seems brighter, happier and more wonderful when you’re in love. If you find it, don’t let it go. One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life:

That word is love. ”

What is a Geek?

Taken from Urban Dictionary ”

The term “geek” originally referred to the carnival performers whose act consisted of biting the heads off chickens and eating glass. Over time it came to be applied to anyone who got paid to do work considered odd or bizarre by mainstream society. The term now enjoys a special status within the technical community, particularly among particularly knowledgable computer programmers. To identify oneself as a “geek” indicates a recognition that most people still consider programming computers to be a bizarre act, along with a certain fierce satisfaction in being very good at their inglorious profession.

That most software geeks now easily earn twice as much as the average laborer just sweetens their defiant embrace of the term.

Note: Unlike the word “nerd,” which is always pejorative, “geek” often carries a positive connotation when used by one of the group. The use of the term by outsiders is considered insulting.

“If you really need the right answer, check with Bob; he’s our resident alpha geek.”

What is open Source?

Taken from Urban Dictionary ”

1. A group of software whose source code is available to the general public for the purpose of improvement, modification, etc.
2. Any software released under the GPL, LGPL, or other open source licenses.
3. The stuff that makes Bill Gates’ life sad.
Linux, Apache, MySQL, and plenty else is open source - and it’s all good stuff.”
Thought Process
So, Love? Geek? and Open Source? These people that create this type of software is truely in love with their programming, they share it and they make it because they love you! So next time you find a program that “open Source” Find their website and drop some cents in there paypal, why? cause your a geek too! and need to return the favor!
Some Resources to think about

Beware of the trap of being addicted to social feedings.

You can’t have enough information of other people’s lives.

I can’t believe I can say I read way to much on people daily lives. twitter and rss feeds are addictive. Here I said it! the 12 step program, Do you really thing I was going to give you guys a 12 step program for IT addicts? Sure I am not. I belong to about 13 forums and I read about 17 blogs daily. It is like a inlet for me because sometimes I have an introverted part of me, just like I have an outrovertiness about myself. Do you know what I am trying to say? I mean that I don’t talk to people sometimes, and I like that. Don’t get me wrong but I do like talking to people about a lot of things. Why do I  read a blog and read a forum post? Well, persay maybe its a way for me to have a conversion with a person without the body language or the fear of rejection of my disability. When I read blogs I know that that person via they way they type or what the topic was. So, I really talk with the person daily, I at least comment on thier blog post, is that enough? A forum is a little different, there is multiple people talking about someone’s thought or feeling about a situation! What do you guys think about types of ways to communicate, we all know about email, but what other things, like Facebook, myspace, or any bother SN (Social networks). What do you guy think about a universal Network? like Create a bridge of all SN’s into one pot?
